The trading journal that stops the next mistake, not just records it

Kaizen Trading Journal imports every trade from NinjaTrader 8 or ATAS automatically, asks for a short review after each one, and enforces the daily rules you set for yourself.

Most journals tell you what went wrong. Afterwards.

A spreadsheet or a web journal shows you the revenge trades on Sunday. By then they're already in your account. Kaizen moves the journal to the moment it matters: right after the trade, and right before the one you shouldn't take.

How it works

1

Trades import themselves

A small add-on for NinjaTrader 8 (or a plugin for ATAS) hands every fill to the journal. Fills are grouped into complete trades with symbol and account. No CSV exports, no copy and paste.

2

A short review after every trade

When a trade closes, a review window opens: which setup was it, and did you follow your playbook criteria? That gives each trade an execution score, independent of whether it made or lost money. A review timer (15 minutes by default) keeps you with this trade before you jump into the next one: a built-in pause instead of an instant revenge trade.

3

Rules you set while calm

Max trades per day, max losing trades, a daily loss or profit limit, per account if you want. You decide them before the session, not in the middle of a drawdown.

4

A lockout you cannot talk yourself out of

In Premium, when a rule is hit, the journal locks trading until the next trading day: new orders are blocked, open positions can be closed, the platform can be shut down. An accountability partner can receive the only unlock code.

Free journal, Premium for enforcement

The journal itself will be free. Premium adds the features that actively enforce the rules you set.

Free

  • Automatic trade import from NinjaTrader 8
  • Dashboard, calendar and core statistics
  • Daily journal, notes and tags
  • Playbooks and post-trade reviews
  • Warnings when you break a rule

Premium (planned)

  • Hard lockout: block orders, close positions, lock the platform
  • Accountability partner with unlock code
  • All accounts at once instead of one
  • Advanced reports (by hour, tags, Kaizen analysis) and PDF export
  • Automatic screenshots and screen recording of trades

The final split between Free and Premium is set at launch. Waitlist members hear it first.

Your trades stay on your computer

Kaizen is a desktop app, not a cloud service. Trades, reviews and notes are stored in a local database on your PC. Nothing is uploaded to analyze your trading.

Compatibility

  • NinjaTrader 8 via add-on (trade import, order lock, auto-flatten)
  • ATAS Classic via plugin (Premium)
  • Windows PC (desktop app)
  • English, Spanish and German interface

Trading journal FAQ

Is the Kaizen Trading Journal free? +

Yes. The journal itself, with automatic import, statistics, playbooks and reviews, will be free. In Free, your rules warn you; Premium is planned for the hard lockout, all accounts at once, automatic screenshots and advanced reports. New users get 14 days of Premium to test, no credit card.

When does it launch? +

The app already runs for a group of existing users while we finish the new interface. We will not promise a date we can not keep; waitlist members get the download link first.

Does it work on a Mac? +

Not natively. NinjaTrader 8 itself only runs on Windows, and the journal reads its trades there. If you run NinjaTrader on a Mac through Parallels or Boot Camp, the journal runs in the same Windows environment.

Is it a Tradezella alternative? +

It covers the same ground as web journals like Tradezella (import, stats, playbooks, reviews) but works differently: it runs locally on your PC, connects directly to NinjaTrader 8 and ATAS, and can enforce your rules during the session instead of only analyzing them afterwards.

Can I use it instead of a trading journal template or spreadsheet? +

Yes. A template only works if you fill it in every day. Kaizen fills itself: trades arrive automatically, and the review takes a few clicks right after the trade.

Does it help against revenge trading? +

That is what it is built for. After every trade a full-screen review window opens with a review timer, so you deal with the last trade before taking the next one. In Free, a banner warns you when you hit one of your limits. In Premium, hitting a limit such as max losing trades or a daily loss limit locks new orders for the rest of the trading day.

What exactly does the lockout do? +

In Premium, when one of your rules is hit, trading is locked until the next trading day (5 a.m. local time). Depending on your settings it blocks new orders in NinjaTrader 8, closes open positions, closes the trading platform and locks Windows. It is meant to stop the trades you take after you should have stopped. It is a tool, not a guarantee: an order that was already sent can still fill, and a limit is a trigger, not a guaranteed maximum loss.

Which brokers and data feeds work? +

Any account you trade through NinjaTrader 8 or ATAS desktop, because the journal reads the fills from the platform, not from the broker.
