Prop Firm Trading Journal for Funded and Evaluation Accounts
A prop firm trading journal has one job the firm's dashboard does not do: stop you before the day's limit is hit, not report it afterwards.
Kaizen Trading Journal is a free Windows journal for NinjaTrader 8. It imports every trade, asks for a review after each one and enforces the daily limits you choose.
Free journal at launch. Early access for the waitlist.
Windows desktop app. Your trades stay on your computer. No spam, unsubscribe anytime.
Your limits, set tighter than the firm's
You enter the numbers you want to stop at: max trades, max losing trades, a daily loss limit and a daily profit limit. Many traders set them below the firm’s own limit to keep a buffer.
The journal does not track your firm's trailing drawdown or rule set; you enter the numbers you want to stop at.
Warning in Free, lockout in Premium
Free shows a banner when you reach a limit. Nothing is blocked.
Premium locks trading until 5 a.m. local time: new orders in NinjaTrader 8 are blocked, open positions can be closed and the platform can be shut down. An accountability partner you name can request the only unlock code.
The lockout is a tool, not a guarantee: an order already sent can still fill.
One account or all of them
Free shows one account at a time, and you choose which one. Premium shows all accounts together, and rules can be set per account, so an evaluation and a funded account can have different limits.
A review after every trade keeps the second trade honest
After each closed trade, a review window opens with your playbook criteria, a Kaizen score and a review timer.
Many traders describe the same pattern in evaluations: the first loss is within plan, the trade right after it is not. The review sits exactly between those two trades.
Works with the platform, not the firm
Any evaluation or funded account you can trade in NinjaTrader 8 works, for example at Apex Trader Funding, Bulenox or other firms that offer NinjaTrader. Kaizen has no partnership with these firms.
The fills come from NinjaTrader 8, not from the firm’s dashboard. Check consistency rules and drawdown in the firm’s own dashboard.
